Quilt design and construction workshops

Translate your design aesthetic into a quilt to use and love

You'll make a quilt that is cool, artistic, edgy, folky, or modern that's individually crafted by hand ... your hand.

All fabric and materials supplied

Courses include individual tuition and creative direction, light refreshments, use of tools and equipment, and all the inspiration, skills, confidence, fabric and materials you'll need.

Five sessions over six weeks in our central Wellington studio in New Zealand.
  • Tuesdays, 6pm - 9pm, commencing 6 October
  • or Saturdays, 10am - 1pm, commencing 3 October
Course of five sessions = $675. Full payment is required to secure your place.

What to expect

You'll identify your own style and colour palette, and explore the effect of simple design variations.

You'll rummage through our extensive collection of new and vintage fabrics and select the supplies you'll need.

You'll plan and document your design and use utilitarian equipment - scissors, ruler, iron, and needle and thread - to construct your quilt.

That's right, you'll be stitching by hand with traditional patchwork or straightforward, free form hand stitching. It's easy, fun, and you'll discover that hand sewing has loads of character and is a calm, meditative way to wind down.

Each course is limited to four people, so you'll have plenty of individual support and attention. We'll guide you at each step, and help you navigate through any tricky problems to achieve the result you want.
